Benzodiazepine Information Coalition extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Chris Cornell. Reports that Chris was taking Ativan (a benzodiazepine) under the care of a physician, and his wife Vicky’s strong suspicion of its role in his suicide, is stunningly consistent with countless tragedies reported by patients and their families everyday from around the country, as well as in the Ativan prescribing literature.
Chris’s tragic death shines a bright light on the dangers to patients prescribed benzodiazepines by their physicians, and is a call to action for the medical community, regulators, and pharmaceutical companies to thoroughly and impartially investigate improved safety efforts without further delay.
