Dear Senator McMurtry,
I was pleased to learn of your bill to address the rampant over-prescribing of these medications. Addictive use is only part of the problem, their role in accidents, depression, suicide and premature death in routine dosages is well documented in international medical literature but less often found in American medical publications. Patients deserve to be fully informed of the associated risks and questionable benefit from their extended use.
There is no doubt that legislation such as this will save and improve the quality of many lives!
