Benzo Bulletin is a Benzodiazepine Information Coalition series highlighting some of the latest benzodiazepine-related information.

A new study from Savic B, Jerotic S, Ristic I, et al, the relationship between long-term benzodiazepine (BZD) prescription, global functioning, and cognitive functioning in persons with psychosis spectrum disorder (PSD) was investigated:

The BZD long-term prescription group had lower global (P < 0.01) and cognitive functioning (P < 0.01), higher Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale scores (1.86 vs 1.58, respectively, P < 0.01), and more psychotropic drugs prescribed on a daily basis than the other group (median: 4 vs 2, respectively, P < 0.01).
