From WCVB5 in Boston, Massachusetts:
In January 2017, Fitzmaurice became chronically ill after his nervous system was damaged by prescribed medication, he said.
“Right now it’s been a little over four years and over time I’m definitely getting better,” Fitzmaurice said.
The road to recovery and the eventual start of a new career all began while Fitzmaurice was still bedridden.
“It was actually started with a money tree in my bedroom,” he said. “On the pot, it said, ‘Wealth is the ability to fully experience life.’ And at that time I couldn’t do anything.”
Never giving up hope, Fitzmaurice refocused his life and created his own wooden fashion sunglasses brand called SLYK Shades.
